August 1, 1914- I was terrified, I didn’t want to leave home. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my mom. I wanted to see my family and my lovely girlfriend again. I had all the training, and all I kept telling myself was to be strong. I was going to make it home, I didn't want to die. but even if I did die I would be dying for my country, I would be happy with that. But I just wasn’t ready. I love the guys here, they always cheer me up. We came up with a game to play to pass the time, but I miss my family like crazy. I had my Pa right there next to me though. So, we stuck together the best we could. He was all i had, and was the last of my family that i was probably going to ever see. I came to know my Pa as a strong man and of strong political viewpoints. He was a very highly respected man. And even through all of his years of being in war, he was still a caring and sensitive man.
August 15, 1914- We are all a mess, we hardly eat. The privates only get paid a few lira every week(less than a lira per day) but we were sometimes able to buy smokes, i knew i wasn't allowed to, but i needed a way to pass the time somehow. We often went and bought meals at nearby towns, but when we didn't have enough money we would leave grenades as a token payment. The onwers didn't like it to much, but they accpeted them. With us not eating it made us pretty weak, and it was hard to sleep. We all didn't look good at all, we needed food and sleep, it was so hard. We are all so skinny, we didn't know how much longer we were going to last. It was really rough.
September 1, 1914-After being in this war for a month, I've decided that there is a pretty stupid reason why were are in it, even though we became allies with Germany and Austria-Hungary we had no part in why the war started, if Germany would have just fought for themselves we would not have so many different countries in this war, and it would not be such a big war. But people don't know how to fend for themselves.
September 15, 1914-Our plan was pretty simple. We made use of all the resources available to the New Russian Federation. Greater Germany and New Yugoslavia invaded us. Federation forces swept across Northern Italy and then down capturing Rome. The fleet of Gunships would then move done the right side of Italy, from Zadar (New Yugoslavia), and drop people off at the bottom and then move along to Sciliy. We would then move up Italy and meet the other section of troops in Rome. This would have taken about two weeks with the excepted resistance. Not much resistance was expected because most CFIS troops were fighting the Battle of France. We used all sorts of different weapons. We used handguns, rifles, submachine guns, machine guns, and grenades. The vehicles we used were tankettes, light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, tank destroyers, self-propelled guns, and armored cars.
December 26, 1914- I was pretty upset that I was missing christmas with my family. But i had my dad here, and we got eachother just a little something from a store we passed, it wasn't much though because we didn't have much money, and we couldn't get anything too big because we would of had to carry it with us everywhere we went because we moved non-stop. Mom sent dad and i a christmas card which helped a little but i still missed christmas, i wanted to decorate my tree, and wrap presents for the rest of the family, but i guess this year was just going to have to be a little bit different.
March 6,1917-Russia did not leave the war, they just pressed on towards Europe until they vanquished Germany and all our allies, except for us, which we were conquered by the western allies. When the United States joined the warit opened up the scene of even greater economic and business support to run down similar nations. It helped us in a way, but in others it didn't Germany thought that the United States were backing up Britian so Germany threatened the United States. But when The United States joined it did no harm to the war there were no more troops or weapons needed. The United States came in as a neutral country.
May 12, 1917-This poster shows "unifying the nation behind the war effort." It also shows patriotic appeals because it shows what were doing in the war. This poster kept my self-esteem high, knowing that we were doing good, and seeing that big weapon i got to use, kept a smile on my face. This propaganda poster shows symbolism for our country. It shows how proud we are of our country, and how we try our hardest, we are good at hiding, and we have great aim.
May 13, 1917-When the treaty was made, it affected us big time. Germany's army was reduced which affected us because their our allies. Germany also lost their territories, everyone that we took over they got their land back. Which France was one of the countries that is against us, and they got their land back, so they had more room and more places to get troops from. Also with Germany paying $30 billion, it hurt us. They all tried to make Germany weaker. So, pretty much everything that we had we lost within this treaty.
Poems- In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
